Crowdy Cloud Service is an experimental cloud based data storage, which uses the free space of the contributors connected to the internet.
This technology is based on Peer-To-Peer communication between the clients and the contributors of the system.
Clients and Contributors ?
This service is completely free, because it is using the free storage space available on the devices, what the Contributors own. Everybody can be contributor by sacrificing a part of their free space on their local device. In return the contributors get Crowdy Credit which is usable to backup data on other contributors devices. Everybody also gets some base credit which, allows the users to backup without contributing.
The Safest Cloud Service!
This system even if other people store your data is much safer the regular cloud based services because:
- Your data is “end-to-end” encrypted (with AES 128bit)
- Your data is processed by Reed-Solomon and each byte of your data goes to a different contributor. Nobody owns a continues sequence of your already encrypted data.
- Your data is more resistant to cyber-attacks, because it is distributed all over the globe.
Regular cloud based storage solutions often don’t even encrypt your data. In some cases are accessible by government or federal institutes. Due to the fact they are stored in one place they are vulnerable for cyber attacks.
How it works
Try out our new prototype, which is available as a cross platform web-start.
The cross platform version Java web-start – with auto update :
